"My trip was great. Kamalaya is a beautiful place and was the perfect choice for a chilled out Christmas. There were plenty I'd activities to choose from & the staff were excellent- attentive without being overwhelming.
The detox package was very good - the food was fab so I never realised I was detoxing. I'm glad I added the yoga although there were complimentary classes available most days.
I would definitely recommend Kamalaya and plan a return visit later in the year.

"The trip was fantastic and I would definitely do it again. It was very "wellness and holistic" focused. It had an extensive range of spa treatments. I adjusted what was included in my package, swapping out a few treatments and adding a few others - so there is flexibility in the package and menu which is helpful. For instance, I did not like the acupuncture and was able to add some massages to replace this. Each treatment has a "credit" associated with it so things can be moved around.
In terms of group exercise and fitness activities, these were weighted towards low impact activities such as yoga, pilates and stretching. There was the occasional fit ball class or cardio focused class (e.g. kickboxing). They also had other organised, holistic group activities such as meditation, breathing, classes on stress-management, etc. One area of improvement could have been more high-impact, cardio activities.
The staff were all very friendly. The layout and landscaping were stunning - it was like the resort was set in the jungle with all sorts of flora and fauna. Together with the rooms being individual, stand-alone cabin-type structures, the resort had a very rustic feel to it which was nice.
Another major strength is the menu. The food is excellently prepared and very focused on health and fitness. The menu is organised around detox / ideal-weight options which was helpful and convenient. There is also a very extensive drinks / juices/ smoothies menu.
The clientele were certainly older with the vast majority being couples or small groups of 2-3 friends traveling together. Very few young people (under 30s). I was the only under 30 single male, though I did not mind. Largely European / Asian.
One point of weakness is the beach - people should not visit Kamalaya if having a stunning beach is a high priority. It's nice, but certainly much better beaches on the island. It was pebbly and you would have to wear special shoes or sandals if wading into the water.
All in all, great for those seeking quiet, peaceful relaxation, de-stress and de-tox, a very healthy menu and an area with rich biodiversity. When leaving, you're also provided with a small booklet which aims to provide guidance on healthier eating and living to reduce the risk of falling back into old routines and patterns when returning home. You also are given the option of a healthy boxed lunch/dinner to take with you to the airport to start things off on the right foot."
