I knew Wildfitness had a different approach to exercise before I arrived, but I was amazed to discover just how deeply it ran throughout the retreats’ ethos. Everything gravitates around natural movement and getting back to how things used to be for evolutionary man. Sure, the fitness schedule incorporates all the aerobic and anaerobic training ....
Escape to the magical mountain hamlet of Milia for an inspiring dose of fresh air, rugged natural beauty, total tranquillity and a thorough fitness boost. This rustic retreat truly was created with the environment and nature in mind, providing a challenging fitness programme in the revitalising outdoors. For a true detox from our technology-driven lifestyles, get back to basics and bond with the natural surroundings with Wildfitness’ appreciation of simplicity. From the unique charm of the traditional stone and timber houses to the organic local food, the Wildfitness programme is faultless for a complete health and fitness kick.

Tucked away in a charming mountain village lies the rural escape of Milia in Western Crete. Surrounded by the natural beauty and complete tranquillity of the Cretan mountain sides, this is a peaceful retreat where breathing in the fresh mountain air will release any tension immediately as you gaze out upon heavenly views. With natural springs, chestnut trees, pine forests and mountain tops reaching up to the skies you will be overwhelmed by the sublime scenery. Not only can you enjoy the beauty of the mountains but you can also explore the sandy beaches and dive into the sparkling turquoise waters of the Mediterranean after an intense beach fitness session.
In keeping with their lifestyle philosophy, Wildfitness only sources organic and local produce. All seafood is sourced from local fishermen whilst olives, lemons and oranges come from the surrounding trees and the salt is non-refined sea salt.
Wildfitness mostly serves an “evolutionary diet” therefore only including ingredients which are natural and non-processed. This nourishment produces the optimum hormonal state in the body and prevents cravings and over eating, resulting in a natural, lean body.
Below is a sample of what’s available on the WildFitness menu. A vegetarian alternative is also available:
Breakfast: choice of eggs (from the chickens outside), raw cheese (from the goats outside), raw local honey and olives, fresh orange juice or lemonade from the surrounding trees.
Lunch: Massive green salad with aubergine and beetroot grown on the farm. Lamb in olive oil.
Dinner: Pumpkin soup (grown locally), wild greens, local Cretan prawns.
* Herbal tea is made from a fusion of wild herbs picked from far-away places on the Cretan hills.

Wild Eating- focusses on natural cuisine which your body is designed and able to process, resulting in you feeling more energised, slender and satisfied.
Wild Moving- being skilled and playful to develop a strong, lean and healthy body.
Wild Living- respecting and responding to your body’s rhythms of rest and recuperation to achieve results.
Wildfitness combines a variety of activities which are fun, intense and skills based to improve your fitness. Activities take place in the beautiful surroundings of the retreat and include running across the Rodhopou peninsula, kettle bell training in the meadow, swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, trekking to the Polirinia gorge, triathlon training and boxing on the high terraces of the peaks.
Regardless of your level of fitness, the team of professional coaches are on hand to motivate, challenge and support you in order to help you reach your fitness goals.
Built on the foundations of an abandoned 17th Century village, the 13 separate guest houses/rooms have been restored using materials including chestnut wood and natural rock slabs, creating an amazing back to nature feel. The rustic rooms are one of Milia’s biggest charms with their wood-burning stoves for the winter, split wooden horse box doors and traditional interior furnishings. Their solar powered energy is enough to keep your room lit but the retreat is also illuminated with candles and the night-time stars; allowing you to appreciate the simplicity and bond with the natural surroundings.

This is a unique property. It is a renovated village on top of the mountain and the stone houses have been turned into guest accommodations. This is the place to come and detox from city life, enjoy the fresh air and the gorgeous mountain views. There is just basic electricity (candles available in the room for extra light) and no plugs in the room. The bed was among the most comfortable we have encountered in Greek hotels. There is also a fireplace for people visiting in the winter. Each house is unique and so are the terraces that come with them. Our terrace was great for watching the stars at night. Imagine no light pollution!
The restaurant that stays open all day is also the place to charge your electronics and provides Wi-Fi. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was very good and local products were used. We took all our meals there for 4 days and we loved them all, especially the vegetable dishes. Try the fava and the garlic mushrooms, if available. Their village sausage and the apaki were exceptional too.

A hiker's paradise. A gastronome's paradise. A fantastic, secluded retreat, deep in the mountains. Many walks to undertake, including the highly recommended Topólia Gorge. The homemade lunch and dinner consists of produce sourced from the retreat itself, as well as the surrounding villages. The "menu" changes every day, so we sat with excitement to listen to what was on offer each day. The rooms are stone cabins, which are clean and only have a few lights, supplemented by candles. There are no power points in the room, but you can charge your devices in the restaurant and access wifi there. Enjoy the flora and fauna, including large birds of prey that hover in the air currents above the retreat. The only down side is the number of wasps, but they seem more tame than elsewhere - in the five days we stayed there, there were no cases of anyone getting stung. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This was an incredibly relaxing place, with stunning views. Highly recommended.
