For someone who likes endless activities and sun, a short health and fitness break away was just what I needed. Guest Reviews of Martin Luxury Beach Resort

We stayed 10 days at the Martinhal with our twin boys who were 10 months old at the time. Throughout the holiday the Martinhal and it's staffed exceeded expectations at almost at every turn. This was our first holiday with the children, and from the taxi ride from Faro to the hotel, the standards they set were far above anything we expected.

We stayed in a two-bedroom garden villa which was toward the back of the complex and about a 5 minute walk to the "town square" (where a shop, bar, pool and family restaurant are) and a 10 minute walk to the main area of the hotel. The villa itself was immaculately presented with a very comfortable amount of space in the rooms and lounge/dining/kitchen area (this was open plan). The garden had a small terrace (which was covered) and a large garden with a number of giant outdoor bean bags and sun loungers to relax privately in. One of the best things about seemingly all the villa accomodation was they were well spaced out and thus you never felt people could see in at all. As a result we slept with our curtains open most nights so we could wake with the sunrise. Not something you ever really experience as a Londoner!

The hotel facilities were excellent. There were a number of restaurants available to dine at. All which always had high chairs available and lots of space so you didn't feel everyone was on top of each other. The staff in all the restaurants were always very kid friendly and when the boys occasionally started playing up, they would help entertain them to allow you to get through your meal in one sitting - no small feat with twins. The menus catered for kids of all ages, and the half-board allowance that we'd pre-bought was very generous (and flexible!) for both adults and kids.

In all I think there were 4 swimmings pools. With exception of the main one near the beach, all were very each to get sun loungers at and find space for even a young family of four. The main pool was often busy, but still you could find space very quickly.

The style of the hotel was a great mix of modern, contemporary but friendly with a splash of surfer style thrown in. Every area managed to feel both stylish in an adult way, and cater excellently for children.

I really have no negative comments to make about this hotel. I did leave some minor constructive points with the hotel, which to their credit they have emailed me personally about afterwards. But I wont mention them here as quite simply they were so minor that it would only detract from what I can only say is probably the best hotel outside of our honeymoon hotel we stayed in.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough for families with babies or young children. We will be going back (which isn't something we EVER do) once our boys are 3+. As then we can truly take advantage of the numerous clubs and kids actives available.

Lovely resort, hugely geared toward families with loads of things to keep the kids occupied. We stayed in one of the Villas as there we're 10 of us in the group. The Villa was fabulous. Beautifully kitted out, loads of space, lovely pool and gardens, stair gates set up to keep the kids safe when we arrived. All the staff were great and very attentive to the kids. food was fine, nothing spectacular but also nothing to complain about. Bar breakfast we were self catering and the little shop in resort had enough of the basics to keep you going (plenty of wine to choose from) and the hotel shuttle would whisk you to the local supermarket just 5 mins away. The grounds were kept very clean, neat and tidy. a lovely resort and highly recommended.

The surrounding area is perfect to take a bike and enjoy a cycle around the resort. We also recommend lounging on the oversized bean-bags around the pool - they are much comfier than sun loungers!

On the western Algarve coastline, Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel is positioned within a protected natural park. Nearby is the historic fishing port of Sagres and a number of unspoiled beaches. The hotel looks over Martinhal beach itself, providing the perfect position for a relaxing holiday, whether with family or as couples. This is one of the Algarve’s least developed regions and Martinhal is the best resort to enjoy it from.
