Does anybody truly have an ideal weight? Really, do you know exactly what you weight right now reading this? What's more, is it 'ideal'? There are so many factors that contribute to your 'ideal weight': perception, energy, diet, seasonality, training, age, body type and importantly sociological pressure.
All of us know when we are carrying too much self-indulgence and poor decisions around our waist line. There can be no doubt that, when we knuckle down and get a grip of our time and clean up our habits, we all feel better. Weight unfortunately is a poor measurement of our body and its appearance. It still staggers me that most gyms have a set of scales for anyone to stand on. This one action of standing on a numerical measure of our total being can make or break someone's head for the whole day.
Simple things like, going to the toilet, weighing before any food or liquid consumption can make a two to three pound difference to that moment of truth.
From my experience, most people from October to March will put on a couple of pounds and shed them by the end of May. The trick is, and always will be, to be consistent, progressive and conscious throughout the year. Be a good all rounder. Be the person that lives the 80:20 lifestyle all year round. The 80:20 life simply means that 80% of the time you are super 'on it' and the rest of the time you are living life as you should; with a smile, passion and with a spring in your step. A lot of people underestimate just how intense you have to exercise to be able to keep hold of the 'ideal weight and body'. Every good looking body you see out there is a result of hours of intense work in the gym and super discipline with food choices.
I talked about perception too and this is very important in anyone's make-up. How we see ourselves is never how others see us. It is far too easy to have a negative slant on ourselves, a personal downer. All too easy to look in the mirror and be critical, you are who you are and you have to make the best of the cards dealt.
